- Medical and Illness Policy
1. Pre-Departure Health Preparations
- Medical Disclosure: All participants are required to disclose any pre-existing medical conditions, allergies, or dietary restrictions at least 30 days prior to arrival. This information is crucial for ensuring appropriate care and accommodations during the program.
- Vaccinations and Health Precautions: Participants should consult their healthcare provider or a travel health specialist to receive recommended vaccinations and health advice pertinent to traveling in Thailand.
2. Health Insurance Requirements
- Mandatory Coverage: Participants must obtain comprehensive travel and medical insurance that covers:
- Medical emergencies
- Hospitalization
- Medical evacuation
- Repatriation
- Proof of Insurance: A copy of the insurance policy, including emergency contact numbers, must be submitted to Dragon Study Tours no later than 30 days before arrival.
3. On-Program Health Management
- Immediate Care: In the event of illness or injury, participants will be accompanied by a member of the Dragon Study Tours team and their group leader to a local healthcare facility for evaluation and treatment.
- Medical Expenses: All medical expenses incurred, including transportation to medical facilities, are the responsibility of the participant. Participants should ensure their insurance policy provides adequate coverage and be prepared to cover costs upfront, seeking reimbursement from their insurance provider as necessary.
- Communication: The Dragon Study Tours team will promptly inform the participant’s emergency contact and school or agent about any significant health issues or incidents.
4. Medication Management
- Personal Medications: Participants must bring an adequate supply of any prescribed medications, stored in their original packaging. It’s advisable to carry a copy of the prescription and a letter from the prescribing doctor detailing the medical condition and medication regimen.
- Over-the-Counter Medications: While basic over-the-counter medications are available, participants with specific preferences or needs should bring their own supplies.
5. Special Dietary Needs
- Advance Notification: Participants with special dietary requirements must inform Dragon Study Tours at least 14 days before arrival. While efforts will be made to accommodate these needs, it’s recommended that participants with strict dietary restrictions bring supplementary snacks or foods.
6. Emergency Protocols
- Serious Illness or Injury: In cases of serious illness or injury requiring hospitalization or medical evacuation, Dragon Study Tours will coordinate with local medical services and the participant’s insurance provider to facilitate necessary care.
- Medical Evacuation: Should medical evacuation be deemed necessary, all associated costs are the responsibility of the participant. It’s imperative that the participant’s insurance policy covers such scenarios.
7. Participant Responsibilities
- Health Precautions: Participants are expected to take proactive measures to maintain their health, including staying hydrated, practicing good hygiene, and adhering to safety guidelines provided by the Dragon Study Toursteam.
- Behavioral Expectations: Engaging in activities that intentionally compromise one’s health or safety, or that of others, may result in dismissal from the program without refund.
8. Confidentiality
- Privacy Assurance: All medical information provided by participants will be handled with strict confidentiality and shared only with personnel directly responsible for the participant’s care and well-being.
This policy is designed to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all participants. Adherence to these guidelines is essential for the well-being of both participants and staff.
